8 Miles on a Saturday
It has been so neat meeting people on twitter who run in Louisiana. Running has become a part of my soul. If I have a scheduled run and I do not get to run, I feel like something is missing. Not many things can beat that feeling of satisfaction when you finish a long run. (maybe a pair of Manolo Blahnik or Christian Louboutin strappy sandals.)
I currently began training for my 2nd Houston Marathon which is on January 15, 2012. During the next six months of training, I will be doing several half marathons with my great Saturday Morning Running Partners. One of these lovely ladies is also my week day afternoon partner, Karen. Our week day runs are short runs (between 3 and 5 miles), but they are brutal thanks to the heat and humidity. This week has been a little better because we have had a light rain. Karen and I are on track for our third month of over 100 miles – something about that just makes me smile. To think two years ago, I could not walk to the end of my driveway without huffing and puffing.
As of right now, in addition to our Marathon Training Schedule (provided to us by the great Go Run leader Phyllis Aswell) we are going to be running the following: Oct. 9th Gulf Coast Half Marathon, Mandeville, LA; Dec. 10th Swamp Stomp Half Marathon, Lake Charles, LA. Other runs we are looking at possibly doing: Oct. 29th Jazz Half Marathon, New Orleans, LA; Dec. 3rd Baton Rouge Beach Half Marathon. I also found out in November there is an Iron Girl Half Marathon in New Orleans.
I hope everyone can lace up their shoes and have a great run today!
