Panda Meander: Houma

Yesterday was the 16th annual Panda Meander 5k and 1/2 mile run/walk. The race takes place in Houma at St. Bernadette School/Church. It is in the Broadmoor subdivision.

This is a very family-friendly event. There was a stage set up for the kids to sing karaoke to Kids Bop songs. It was pretty funny/awful listening to children sing Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus songs, but it’s all about the kids, right?

That big blue thing was a device that allowed them to catapult water balloons at each other.

To be a kid these days! They have the coolest stuff!

It started off with a children’s 1/2 mile run at 8:30. The 5K began at 9:00. If it had started earlier, the weather would have been more pleasant, but I was happy to be able to sleep late, and it wasn’t too bad.

If you are into personified animals doing things such as running (I AM!), you will love the race shirt!

(I may or may not have spilled Cane’s sauce all over it during the LSU game…)

While I do not have any action shots of me running, I can share another picture.

Check out the sweat on us!

Did I mention it only cost $12 to pre-register and $14 for same-day registration?

It was definitely worth the money. There were sponsors such as Wing Stop and Chic-fil-a giving out food, and there was even a sno-ball stand! (I usually go for the water after races, but it was a nice treat for the kids.)

We even scored some bling! (I love small town races and age groups broken into 5 year increments!)

1st female 25-29

1st male 25-29

I’m pretty sure I’ll sign up for the Panda Meander next year. It was a great way to spend a Saturday morning.
