The Good Ones

I saw a quote last week about cherishing the bad runs because they make you appreciate the good ones. The past two Saturdays I have had good runs which I needed.  A bad run will make the voices in my head go crazy (you didn’t eat right, you are not prepared, you can’t do this, etc.)  I probably should get some therapy.

On 9/24, my running group had an 18 mile run. I worried about it during the week. 18 miles is a long run. It ended up being an awesome run. Our last 6 miles were faster than the first six.

This is my running partners, Amanda and Karen, after our 18 miles. This run was so great I was smiling all day Sunday.

This past Saturday (10/1) we only had 8 miles on our schedule. I didn’t really think much about it during the week. It is funny how the more you run those single digit training miles, they don’t phase you.  So we started out in the lovely,  cool weather and the run was the bomb!

This is me and Karen after our easy, breezy 8 miles.

Karen and I then went to Sulphur to run a 5k that was for breast cancer awareness. Most people were walking but we decided we would do a slow run because, well, I think it would be impossible for us to walk a 5k, it’s just not gonna happen. We ended up finishing the 5k in 27:04. It was a good run – nice scenery – a little competiveness flared up at the end but we enjoyed a good laugh!

This is Karen and I after catching our breath. LOL!

We are going to Mandeville this weekend for the Gulf Coast Half Marathon. I am SO excited!  I will probably start packing my running bag on Wednesday and will then repack it on Thursday and Friday.
I hope everyone has a week full of awesome weather and great runs.
See ya in Mandeville on Sunday!

Tell me about one of your great runs!
