Thunderbird Trail Half Marathon Recap (Video)

Last Sunday, Dec. 17, in St. Francisville, La., runners took over the trails at the West Feliciana Parish Sports Park.

Sunday morning, we were able to see the trail running action first hand. For trail races, the participation is usually slightly smaller, but trust that the competition was stiff and the course and conditions were quite challenging. Runners had to endure temperatures in the low 30s as they began their 13.1 mile journey that morning.

Many came prepared with long sleeves, jackets, tights and gloves. Though the gear protected them from the cold, it did not protect them from “the beast”, as many of the veteran runners refer to the course. The real story here is that there was a 9-year-old that completed the trail half marathon that morning. He had an awesome shirt that read “Beast Mode” as he flew by on the course.
