If we said it once, we’ve said it a million times…we love group running. It inspires accountability and it’s a great way to meet new people in different areas of our great running state.
If you’re looking to mix things up and join some new runners, check out these four groups:
This group meet for runs in Zachary about twice a week. The weekday runs are on Tuesday nights and are between 1 and 4 miles. The weekend runs are on Saturday mornings or Sunday afternoons and they offer both short and long distance courses.
Their normal run rotation is 3 weeks at the South Lafourche Airport and 1 week at the Larose Civic center. They occasionally break away from their normal schedule, but make sure to send out weekly notices via Facebook. They are a non profit club that require no fees.
The mission of Black Girls RUN! is to encourage African-American women to make fitness and healthy living a priority. BGR! wants to create a movement to lower the number of women with chronic diseases associated with an unhealthy diet and sedentary lifestyle. They have a running group in Baton Rouge and in New Orleans.
This group is a fun, non-competitive, social running club in Lafayette. Whether you walk, run or just want to hang out, join them for a weekly 3-mile run, some food and beverages. Runs are every Tuesday, rain or shine.
