On Saturday, Feb. 11, runners gathered in Covington, La. to participate in the Abbey Monk Trail Run 5K and 1-mile Fun Run at St. Joseph Abbey.
While the weather at 8 a.m. may have been cold, it certainly did not keep away the interested runners, as there were more people in attendance than the previous year.
After the race, everyone was treated to Abita Abbey Ale, gumbo, hot dogs and hamburgers. Plus, as a bonus, the trophies that were given out were wooden and hand-crafted by the monks.
Everyone seemed to be in high-spirits and having a great time. It was a wonderful race and if you weren’t able to attend, be sure to check it out next year.
