Diary of a Semester, Ch. 5: The Lull

I hope everyone had a relaxing, fun, and safe Mardi Gras! The holiday, coupled with the fact that we’ve been in a bit of a training lull, means I’ve been on a short hiatus from writing. But I’m back for the final stretch, probably the busiest 6 weeks of our year:

  • This Sunday, Feb. 26, we’re running in the Elmwood Classic in Harahan.
  • On Saturday, March 3, Youth Run NOLA coaches, volunteers, and supporters are going to do our part at the ING Kids Rock event, a non-competitive .5/1-mile run for students in grades K-7. (It’s part of the Rock ‘n’ Roll marathon weekend). We’d love to have more friends join us — if you’re interested, e-mail info@yrnola.org.
  • Sunday, March 4, bright and early, we’ll be up and at ‘em for the Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon. Look out for us if you’re participating, or cheering along the route!
  • April 7, we’ll take part in one of our favorite events, the Crescent City Classic, and count up the miles as the year begins to wind down.

I’ll have reports here on all this and more. In the meantime, watch our students explain why they run. Why do you?
