The inaugural Reveille at Oak Alley 5k took place in Vacherie, La. on Sunday, March 25.

The race began inside the grounds of the historic Oak Alley Plantation and exited out on to River Rd. Around mile two, the racers ran up and along top the levee pathway for a mile, then ran down onto the oak tree lined street leading to the Plantation.

While the temperatures were higher than normal for this time of the year, the humidity was at a minimum. This made the run much more enjoyable for everyone and the finish down Oak Ln. was a gorgeous way to end a scenic course.

With this race, Race Director Chuck George not only produced the first race at Oak Alley Plantation but he reached his 900th road race. George is planning on many more races to come and to eventually reach 1,000 races in the future.

All racers received free admission to enjoy the Oak Alley Spring Arts and Crafts Festival which had taken place all weekend long.
