This will be a short post with just a quick update on my current condition. Yesterday was my first run after two and a half weeks off. I felt like a kid who was stuck in a car for 8 hours and finally gets to DisneyWorld (quick confession, I’ve never to to either Disney park, I had a deprived childhood haha). I just wanted to take off as fast as I could and not stop until I fell out.
That’s what I wanted to do anyways.
I actually ran an easy 4 miles at a 10 min pace. I had no pain on the run and felt great this morning when I woke up, which is generally when the stiffness and pain would set in. Before my run yesterday I did some drills (high knees, butt kicks, karaoke, etc) to loosen up and then stretched. After the run I did an easy leg workout with no weights. I also hopped on the foam roller for a few minutes to loosen up my leg muscles. It’s still a little early to tell, but I feel like if I train smart and take it easy I will be back to my former self in no time.
A special thanks to everyone who showed concern, gave me advice, and had words of encouragement. We have an amazing community of people here and I’m happy to be a part of it.
