This past Saturday, thunderstorms spread across the state of Louisiana. It’s hard to believe that any of the scheduled races would take place as planned. Shockingly, the race conditions were “the best that you could ask for” said the first place male finisher, Adam Hoogewind. The McMains’s CDC Run 5K took place in Downtown Baton Rouge.
The McMains Children’s Development Center is a facility for kids with disabilities. Director Eunice McCartney shared that “we have kids with wheelchairs and we want to have events where our kids can do things with other people.”
The McMains CDC Run 5k took runners through the streets of Downtown Baton Rouge. Runners finished down 4th street with the amazing State Capitol hiding as a backdrop. The overall top male and female finishers provided that the conditions for the race were great with amazing times. The first place male was Adam Hoogewind with a time of 14:52. The first place female finisher was Carey Schuele with a time of 17:30.
It’s also noted that the course was short, but we are unable to confirm the accurate distance.
