Race Recap: Whistlestop Half-Marathon and 10K

On Saturday May 12th, the first ever Whistlestop Half Marathon and 10K  was held in Ashdown, Arkansas.  The race had 40-60 people between the two distances.   It was lightly raining during the beginning of the race but stopped not to long after the race was underway.  Participants ran on rural back roads on an out and back course that featured water stops every 2-2.5 miles.  Top three over-all received medals and trophies and top age groups winners received medals as well.  After the race, runners could walk across the street to downtown Ashdown where the Whistlestop festival was in full swing.  Booths with food, trinkets, and other assorted items could be browsed and there was live music.  It was a great inaugural race and next year is sure to be even better.

I’ve messaged the race director to get the overall winners of the half and 10K and their times.  I hope to have an update some time today.
