This past Friday night, runners in New Orleans gathered at the City Park for the 3rd Annual Louisiana Gold Mile hosted by Southern Runner and Louisiana Running Company. It’s become the norm to see 5Ks taking over race schedules during this time of the year, but this annual 1 mile shook things up quite a bit.
There were multiple levels for the 1 mile event, including a high school category, elite, and runners that found themselves in between those two categories. Temperatures were in the low 80s as runners raced down Macroni Blvd to the finish line.
22 year old Adam Saloom ended up with the fastest mile time of the evening with a 4:21, just beating out Jonathan Thomas who finished right on his shoulder. The first place female was Laura Carleton finishing with a time of 5:00.
Proceeds from this race benefitted Determination New Orleans
