Race Swag

Let’s face it, when we sign up for a race, we are hoping for two things, a great race and a great swag bag. Over the years, I’ve collected quite an assortment of t-shirts, towels, water bottles, beer glasses, mugs, stickers, socks, and a cool pair of running gloves.

Some of my favorite swag items include my RocketChix coffee mug, my Rouge Orleans Ultra Marathon beer glass, my Baton Rouge Beach Marathon socks, my Yam City Triathlon tee, and my podium bag from the inaugural Cane Field Classic.

The RocketChix coffee mug is the perfect size and shape for a good cup of coffee. I have been known to stash it in a secret spot so my husband won’t use it because he is equally as fond of it. My Rouge Orleans Ultra Marathon beer glass is a good size and reminds me every time I enjoy a nice brew that I actually survived running that race on the coldest night of 2012. The Baton Rouge Beach Marathon socks are comfortable and have a design that is just the right amount of eye-catching obnoxiousness. I actually wore these socks in the delivery room when my first son was born as a reminder of how awesome I once was. Last but not least is my Yam City Tri tee. This one is so bad it’s good. It’s neon yellow and has caricatures of yams on the front swimming, biking and running. Considering the yams look a bit more like dookie than like yams and that the shirt is so bright it glows in the dark, it’s quite a conversation starter. I try to wear it often. The Cane Field Classic podium bag is just a great bag from a great race that I ran with my parents so it brings back great memories.

What are your favorite race swag items?

I already love my Rocketchix sticker from Saturday’s tri. I put it on my car before I even left the parking lot. It’s like a medal that I see everyday. I also love water bottles, cause I’m too cheap to buy them.
