The 32nd annual River Cities Triathlon was held this weekend at the Cypress Black Bayou in Benton, LA., Roughly 15 minutes outside of the Shreveport/Bossier area. This signature race consisted of a 800 meter swim, 18.2 mile bike, and a 5k run to the finish line.

Upon entering the gates of the park Sunday morning, all participants were directed to park in a designated grassy area and proceed to check in their bikes and gear. While organizing their transition area, the DJ played tunes from today’s top artists including Katy Perry, Flo Rida, and more.

It was reported by many returning participants that the temperature last year was quite difficult to perform in. In comparison to the previous year, the mid 80s with overcast was perfect this year.

It was no surprise that there was a sold out crowd of 1,000+ that came to participate in the race that Lance Armstrong set the course record for many years ago. 18 different states were represented on Sunday morning at this sold out event. Aside from the Fat Boy 5k in Baton Rouge, this may be the fastest race to sell out. Rumor has it, if you don’t register the day it opens, you won’t get in.

Top performances were turned in from the men and women. Ted Zderic was first overall with a time of 1:14:30. Lauren Barnett was the first place female with a time of 1:19:01.
